MYGYM has its own Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting club! If you hadn’t guessed, that is us!

Our club is open to both Olympic Weightlifters and Powerlifters.

Bristol Barbell Club previously known as Bristol Weightlifting Club is affiliated to the British WeightLifting Association (BWL).

Club membership benefits:

  • Classes included in your membership (attendance is not compulsory)
  • MYGYM’s Gym membership included
  • Exclusive access to our own Bristol Barbell Club (aka MYGYM’s Strength and Conditioning area)


Olympic Weightlifting classes are overseen by Pete Mondays and Wednesdays. Ladies get Powerlifting classes every Tuesday and Thursday evening run by Christie under our sub group Deadlift Divas. Christie also runs an OPEN Powerlifting session once a month for both men and women. Please see more detail in below paragraphs.

Olympic Weightlifting

Our regular Olympic Weightlifting Classes are not your typical one where everyone does the same exercise(s) at the same time, it is more of a experienced lifters get on with their program and beginners get extensive help from Pete, however Pete is on hand for experienced lifters too.

Deadlift Divas

Ladies only strength training session coached by Christie. Tuesdays 6-7pm, focusing on exercises specifically to build strength. Thursdays 7-8pm are a bit slower, and focus more on the technique and form! The movements focused on will mainly surround the squat, bench, and deadlift with multiple variations. Christie will head a once monthly “Open Powerlifting Session.” This is where you can hang out and ask all types of questions, get your form checked etc.  

Club nights are now as follows:

  • Olympic Weightlifting: Mondays, Wednesdays 6-9pm
  • Powerlifting: Tuesday and Thursdays 7-10pm

If you are an experienced Olympic Weightlifter and/or Powerlifter, you can use the area outside of class times 7 days a week during normal hours. If you are beginner we recommend you attend the classes under the very capable hands of our coaches first.

All levels of experience are welcomed at Bristol Barbell Club.
